It depends. Sometimes I'll make hand sketches, sometimes I'll draw up sections of the frame in 3D modelling software, and sometimes I just experiment. I have built frames for others where they have supplied complete drawings themselves.

Thanks! I'm more likely to work on a touring type bike next, but I'm sure I'll come back to another full suspension bike at some point, most likely aluminum.
